The expectations of his supporters and his return to Australia are discussed by Novak Djokovic.
Although Novak Djokovic was dissatisfied with how the media depicted him the previous year, he is hoping that supporters will support him in Melbourne.
At the height of his "deportgate" controversy last year, Djokovic's "approval rating" wasn't particularly high, but it has increased this year. The Serbian spoke about the media's part in all of that since he wasn't happy with how the previous year had turned out.
I realize that when the media portrays a man who attempted to enter the country without a vaccination in a particular way, some people may ask, "What, wait a minute, why is he allowed to come in when many people aren't able or allowed to come from wherever they are around the world to their own country." Therefore, I could understand their frustration, but once more, I must add that the media handled the situation horribly.
This year, the scenario is far less complicated, and Djokovic was interested to see how Adelaide would receive him. He hopes everything goes as well as it did in Adelaide and will be interested to see how it plays out in Melbourne.
I was a little curious to see how Adelaide would react to me. The welcome was outstanding. Every match was in front of a full house thanks to the fantastic support I had during my tournament. I hope Melbourne will turn out well, but I don't know. I truly hope that the crowd will accept me nicely. I'm not sure how to forecast that, therefore I can't.
On the Adelaide fan response
Despite some reports saying he's uncertain owing to a lower leg ailment, Djokovic is anticipated to participate in the competition.
