The Adelaide International title was won by Novak Djokovic in an exciting match against American Sebastian Korda as he warmed up for his Australian Open comeback.

The Serb appeared to be headed for an unexpected loss until winning 6-7 (8), 7-6 (3), and 6-4 in a grueling three hours and nine minutes to extend his winning record in Australia to 34 games, stretching back to 2019.

Due to his refusal to acquire the Covid-19 vaccine, Djokovic was expelled from the country prior to the 2022 Australian Open on the grounds that he posed a risk to the public's health.

However, the 35-year-old will return to Melbourne this month in search of a 10th championship after receiving treatment for his left leg during Saturday's semi-final victory against Daniil Medvedev.

He will go there full of self-assurance after finishing an exciting match by winning his 92nd career tour-level championship.

Djokovic fought back to keep himself in the match at 5-6 in the second set and then sprinted through the tiebreak to force a tiebreaker. After securing victory when the 22-year-old Korda threw a forehand long, the 21-time grand slam champion touched his right index finger to his head in appreciation of his own tenacity.

Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are currently tied for the fourth-most men's singles titles in the Open Era, behind behind Ivan Lendl (103), Roger Federer (103), and Jimmy Connors (109). (94).

He expressed his gratitude to the Australian audience for their support ever since his homecoming.

Djokovic stated, "It's been a great week and you guys made it even more special," according to atptour.com, during the trophy presentation. "It's obviously a gift for me to be standing here. I sacrificed everything today and over the entire week in order to win the prize.

"Thank you so much (to) everyone for coming out every single match," the athlete said. "The support that I've been getting in the past 10 days is something that I don't believe I've experienced too often in my life."

British player Lloyd Glasspool and his Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara won the men's doubles competition after defeating fellow countrymen Jamie Murray and Michael Venus 6-3, 7-6 (3).
